Our family estate

Les vignerons DEL'OZ ART, Déborah et Swann
A bit of history

Our estate is a family operation. In 2020, we took over the business to become the 9th generation of winegrowers in the family. The great-grandparents, Marcel Del'Hozanne and Hélène Guiborat, created the Del'Hozanne-Guiborat champagne brand at the beginning of the last century, which they marketed until the Second World War. After this, Champagne having been ravaged, they united with the winegrowers of Vincelles to create the village cooperative, thus ceasing the exploitation of the family brand.

It was during a move a few years ago that an original label from the great-grandparents was found. With this historic piece in our hands, we decided to relaunch champagne production on our own. Thus, the Del'Hozanne-Guiborat brand is reborn. In 2022, we became independent winegrowers again.

Déborah & Swann

A special terroir

Our farm is located in the town of Vincelles, in the heart of the Marne Valley. Our 8.6 hectare estate extends over the communes of Vincelles and Verneuil. Our land is special. Indeed, the Marne floods the bottom of the valley with humidity, creating dense sheets of fog in the morning. When the sun rises and breaks through at the end of the morning, the south-facing vines on the northern slopes are irradiated with sunlight for the rest of the day.

This climatic specificity, coupled with the uniqueness of our soils (clay-loam cover of 30 to 50 cm on a chalky-limestone soil), makes our terroir a particularly favorable place for the development of Meunier. This grape variety represents 80% of our grape varieties. We also grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, as well as a plot of Pinot Gris.

Environment and ecology

Ecology has been part of our environmental approach for several decades. The implementation of ENM (Controlled Natural Grassing) more than 30 years ago is one of the starting points. Over time, we practiced sustainable viticulture (rationalization of the volume and categories of inputs), then from 2010, we began to engage in environmental certifications.

European logo organic
AB: Agriculture Biologique - Organic Agriculture

TheOrganic Agriculture in viticulture mainly results in the use of inputs not derived from synthetic chemistry, and certified AB. In winemaking, when making our champagnes, it's the same principle: we use must (decanted grape juice), certified AB yeasts for fermentation and, sometimes, when necessary to protect the wine. oxidation, a little sulfur. And that's all ! The rest is done through scrupulous hygiene during production and daily attention.

The first conversions to organic farming began with us in 2010, obtaining the first certified plots in 2013. Today, around half of our wine estate is certified AB, and we only produce organic champagne.

HVE : Haute Valeur Environnementale - High Environmental Value

The certification Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) - High Environmental Value includes several components, including :

  • puceThe integration and development of biodiversity in operating management
  • puceLimiting inputs, particularly for fertilization
  • puceTaking into account the impact of the cultivation method on water resources (Example: rainwater recovery)
  • puceThe impact of exploitation on the air

Our entire estate has been certified HVE High Environmental Value since 2019.
